Welcome to CARA's
We Love Our Volunteers!

Page

Many Paws Make Light Work!

Volunteers guarantee CARA's future. Everything you see at CARA and on this web site has been created by volunteers like you. We know that anything is possible when caring people work together. When we give, not only are we saving the lives of homeless animals, but we find true happiness within ourselves.

Come join others any Saturday from 10am - 2pm to help. If you are under 16, you need someone 18 or older to stay with you. :-)

Information about adoption events, fundraising events, training sessions, etc., is listed here. Some of the current projects and fundraisers are listed below.

If you are a registered volunteer, feel free to click on an event on the calendar below and send us an email and let us know if you can help! We need a certain amount of volunteers for every open house, adoptathon, and event to make it possible.

In order for CARA to exist we must have a strong core of volunteers. If you would like to help CARA please please click here to register as a volunteer. Registered volunteers receive news, updates, and needs of CARA. Email is how we reach our volunteers, and it only takes a minute to register.

If you are already a registered volunteer, follow this link to edit your profile and contact information with us!

Welcome to the We Love Our Volunteers Page
Volunteers are vital to the success of our organization. CARA operates mostly with volunteers, relying on the commitment of dedicated animal lovers. Even the board members scoop their share of poop! Due to funding limitations, CARA only contracts three part-time people who perform daily animal management which includes kennel cleaning, feeding, etc. CARA relies on volunteers to do the rest.

Socializing animals, fundraising, educating our community, recruiting new volunteers, etc. are just a few of the many ways you can help. Your time is a valuable gift and just a few hours will make an incredible difference in the lives of homeless animals.

General Guidelines:

Due to state regulations, any volunteers who will be cleaning the facility must complete a training class. All volunteers are encouraged but not required to attend a formal orientation at the shelter. You can click the above link to attend our virtual orientation and learn about CARA's history, needs, and future.

Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age to participate independently - but still must be signed in by a parent or guardian.

Volunteers under 15 years of age must be accompanied (within an arms reach) by a parent or guardian AT ALL TIMES.
The adult must maintain control of the animal (holding the leash, etc.) at all times.

CARA is not liable for any injuries as volunteers spend time in the facility at their own risk. Animals are unpredictable and so are people, so always use your best judgment when volunteering. :-)

If you are interested in contributing your time and learning more about our volunteer opportunities, please fill out the Volunteer Profile or email volunteer@cara-nc.org.

Project Warm Winter drawing!! -January 12, 2008

Win a Set of Six
CARA Paw Print Paving Stones !
Help Keep Our Babies Warm!

Project Warm Winter

It’s that time of year when the temperature is dropping and the CARA shelter faces high propane bills for heating. Good Samaritans have been prompt to provide funds to properly insulate the shelter and that work has been done. Frozen pipes should be a thing of the past and heating costs will be lower.

Nevertheless, propane and electrical costs to keep the CARA Adoption Center warm and cozy will run in the range of $3,500 to $4,000 this winter. We are asking that you send a donation for Project Warm Winter to raise the funds needed to pay propane and increased electrical bills over the winter months. With your donation, we can reach our goal and make sure our furry friends sleep warm and safe during the cold times.

Your tax deductible donation can be mailed to:
Carolina Animal Rescue & Adoption, Inc. , P.O. Box 2642, Sanford, NC 27331

Everyone who contributes to Project Warm Winter is eligible to win a matched set of six CARA Paw Print Paving Stones.

Drawing will be held on Saturday, January 12th at the CARA Adoption Center, 42 Deep River Road, Sanford, NC 27330.

You do not have to be present to win. Please mark your donation "Project Warm Winter" and be sure to include your address and telephone number.

Call Irene Smith at 919 777-9143 for more information.
Good luck!

Dewi was exceptionally shy before this volunteer helped to bring him out of his shell. Animals like Dewi really love and need this sort of socialization :-)
