Hello. My name is Winnie. I am glad my sweet smile caught your eye. My story is simple. I was rescued 2 years ago, and adopted soon after. I was in a loving home for 2 years, until a week ago when I was returned. It is extremely important to note that I am an amazing dog. I was returned due to being reactive on a leash. That means that while my mom was walking me I would bark, growl, and lunge at other dogs that I do not know. I had a dog sibling in the home, that I never had an issue with. My mom reported that I started to show this behavior when she became sick, so the conclusion is that I was being protective of her.

Since I have been back at the rescue I have not displayed any reactivity. I am super super anxious and scared in the kennel here, so maybe I just haven't become comfortable but so far the humans here are so proud that I have not shown any reactivity. They have been walking me with different dogs every day to ensure I continue to make progress.

In my previous home, I had a great trainer who saw my amazing potential. He is willing to take me on as a client again when I am re-adopted. He said I did very very well on multiple occasions with him.

You must know that I am the sweetest angel, and deserve an amazing home that will comitt to me for the remainder of my life.

Every animal that comes into the CARA program is here because one or more events occurred  that led to this animal needing not only a home, but a person or family to love and protect them. Each animal has been loved and cared for by a small and determined group of people who want nothing more than to know each animal is safe for the rest of his or her life. Thank you for looking to adopt!
